Having begun her career as a journalist with Malaysia’s New Straits Times Group, Millicent spent many years with Petronas, Malaysia’s national oil company and also served as Public Affairs Advisor to a leading Malaysian group of companies before she established Perception Management International 12 years ago.
As one of Malaysia’s more established public relations practitioners, she has been in active
practice for 35 years, offering her insights in the areas of corporate strategy, media and issues management, PR programme and policy development, corporate transparency and communication ethics, strategic messaging and leadership communications, communications training and PR education. She alternates between assignments in Kuala Lumpur, London and Lusaka.
She has served for two terms on the Board of the London-based International Public Relations Association (IPRA), having held the post of Malaysian chair for IPRA, and for a time served as Vice President of the Public Relations Consultants Association of Malaysia (PRCAM). She is also a member of the UK’s Institute of Directors and an associate of Henley Management College where she is registered as a doctoral candidate. Most recently, Millicent founded the Malaysia-Europe Forum, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to building relationships through dialogue between Malaysia and key business centres in Europe.
She is a Fellow of the Institute of Public Relations Malaysia (IPRM) and the only Malaysian PR practitioner with approved-trainer status obtained from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, UK (CIPR), of which she is a member. She is called upon to facilitate workshops at a senior management level, particularly in the areas of leadership communication and messaging, spokesperson coaching, crisis communications and presentation skills. |
